Patron Entities

Operational Constraints & Warnings:

  • Rotate personnel frequently. Stasis and obsession are common psychological hazards. No researcher remains on active observation duty longer than seventy-two hours without mandated decompression.

  • Never allow electronic transmission of raw observation data without Tribune clearance. Memetic leakage through remote feeds is a documented vector.

  • If the subject exhibits signs of adaptive learning (changes behavior in response to Observation measures), lockdown and call for Tribunal review. The subject may be interacting with the Veil itself.

Nature of Patronage

Unlike the parasitic pacts of the Shattered Sects, Patron bonds appear symbiotic rather than exploitative.
Recipients, known as Chosen, exhibit enhanced physical or psychic capabilities — but without apparent loss of will or autonomy.

Common expressions of Patron influence include:

  • Miraculous healing or disease resistance

  • Heightened perception or intuition (classified as “sanctioned extrasensory phenomena”)

  • Creation of protective wards or sanctified objects

  • Emotional stability or resistance to Veil exposure

These effects are strongest where faith and moral conviction are present.
Unlike the cultic devotions of the Crimson Wake, Patrons seem drawn to compassion, duty, or sacrifice — as though resonance with human empathy sustains them.

Manifestation and Communication

Patron Entities rarely manifest physically.
Instead, contact occurs through dreams, visions, and synchronicities — moments of symbolic resonance interpreted by the Chosen as divine encounters.
Recorded manifestations often involve light phenomena, harmonic tones, or sudden silence followed by warmth — sensory inversion typical of controlled Veil interaction.

The Organization’s Metaphysical Studies Bureau theorizes that Patrons occupy a “high-tier Veil gradient,” existing at the boundary between both worlds. They are not entirely separate from the Veil’s fabric, but rather stabilize it in localized zones.

Where Denizens tear reality open, Patrons suture it shut.
