Observation Teams

Primary Purpose:
Locate, document, and study anomalies under controlled conditions. Observation Teams provide the Organization with the scientific and ritual knowledge necessary for long-term containment, neutralization protocols, and artifact classification.

Doctrine:
Observation Teams operate by containment-through-understanding. Their objective is to gather as much repeatable, verifiable data as possible while minimizing memetic exposure to personnel and the public. They are strictly non-combative unless breached.

Typical Composition:

  • Lead Researcher (scientific authority; often paired with Tribune oversight)

  • Occult Linguist / Folklorist (decodes ritual texts and oral patterns)

  • Technical Operator (maintains Kirlian and psychometric devices)

  • Clinical Psychologist / Psychiatrist (monitors mental integrity of staff and subjects)

  • Security Detail (minimal, for perimeter control and extraction)

Standard Tools & Kit:

  • Observation Cells: portable reinforced chambers, lead-quartz viewing panes, and iron-laced linings.

  • Spectral vibration recorders, Kirlian-imprint devices, and analog audio scramblers.

  • Salt and copper filter systems to neutralize spiritual particulate matter.

  • Dream-mapping rigs for safe, mediated trance work (used sparingly).

  • Non-reactive containment boxes for biological samples; photographic plates and microfilm for archival transcription.

  • Audio playback devices with reversed-channel filters to test memetic properties.

Typical Missions:

  • Long-term study of a recovered artifact, entity, or cult relic in a controlled cell.

  • Experimental trials to determine containment lattice specifications, ritual countermeasures, or anti-memetic prophylaxis.

  • Safe interview and debrief of cult defectors, with pre- and post-exposure psychological protocols.

  • Development of field doctrine based on observed behaviors and test results.

Operational Constraints & Warnings:

  • Rotate personnel frequently. Stasis and obsession are common psychological hazards. No researcher remains on active observation duty longer than seventy-two hours without mandated decompression.

  • Never allow electronic transmission of raw observation data without Tribune clearance. Memetic leakage through remote feeds is a documented vector.

  • If the subject exhibits signs of adaptive learning (changes behavior in response to Observation measures), lockdown and call for Tribunal review. The subject may be interacting with the Veil itself.
